This is commonly expressed in inches for example, an 8-inch telescope will have an 8-inch aperture. The most common method is via the aperture. You can measure a telescope's size in different ways. This helps us study changes in the sun and other planetary bodies. However, using electronic detectors or photographic films, these telescopes can record light that is light years away from earth. This helps in studying how these bodies behave.Īs humans, we cannot expose our eyes to the light for a long period as it can affect our vision. With these instruments, we can observe certain planetary bodies and see them as if they are very near. The telescopes bring the heavens closer to us. Note that a camera tripod might not be stable enough for telescopes. Manufacturers avoid single-screw attachment blocks in favor of bigger, more durable rings or plates on mounts made expressly for telescopes. Many telescopes come with tripods or mounts, while some smaller scopes only have a mounting block that allows mounting them to a camera tripod with a single screw. Something sturdy will be required to support your telescope. If you're on a budget, strive to acquire the largest aperture you can afford because it will make a significant difference in image quality. A large aperture telescope allows more light to flow into the eyepiece, which results in greater image clarity for faint objects. In almost every case, a larger aperture is preferable. This factor is more essential than any other feature in determining how much you'll be able to see with the telescope. Lastly, the Compound (or catadioptric) telescopes, which combine camera lenses and mirrors, have small tubes and are comparatively lightweight. These are the least price for a given aperture, but you'll have to change the optical alignment from time to time. Reflectors use a mirror at the back of the main tube to collect light. The refractor offers better image quality, low maintenance but is more expensive. These types are the Refractor, the Reflector, and the Compound. The three telescope designs employ various optics to achieve the same goal: making distant objects appear larger and brighter than they appear to the naked eye. Factors to consider before buying a telescope This guide will help you make the right choice out of the numerous telescope choices to get that heavenly experience that you desire. The Celestron 21023 Cometron FirstScope is highly recommended. The only problem is that astronomy is a complicated subject, and if you have not got the right telescope, you're likely to have a disappointing experience. You're not alone if you've ever stared up at the sky and wondered what's out there every day, many professional and amateur astronomers pick their telescope and point it towards the sky.

For instance, if you have a MKV file, WALTR PRO will automatically convert it to Apple supported file format while transferring. Moreover, it also converts the file format to those Apple respects. I also love the fact that WALTR PRO supports every kind of file that we generally transfer. Its WiFi connection is as fast as the native AirDrop and transfers music and pictures in seconds.Įven the big video files just take minutes to transfer from my Mac to my iPhone. With WALTR PRO, I can either connect my iPhone using cables or WiFi. You can also use the license for other apps from Softorino. While this software comes with a considerable price, it is very convenient and powerful. My favorite iTunes replacement software is WALTR PRO. With that said, let’s get started, shall we? Well, all I’m trying to emphasize here is that the need to have a complete iTunes alternative had never been so essential before, irrespective of whether you are on macOS Catalina, Mojave, Monterey, or on Windows 11.Ĭoming back to the question of which iTunes-like software can be right for you, take a close look at your needs i.e movies/shows management, music management, or iPhone/iPad management, and then go for the tool that fits into your requirements. As for the newly launch Music and Apple TV apps, they are too sophisticated to let you manage all of your tracks and videos with the desired flexibility. Also, editing track info is awkward compared to iTunes.you have to select a track, mouse to the edit window and edit your info, mouse back to track listing and select the next track, then mouse back to the edit window - there should be a "next" button like in iTunes.ĭespite these small issues (and a few others), for me Swinsian is a step up from iTunes and/or the Music App and was well worth the $25.Besides, even though Finder does a pretty good job of managing the iPhone, Apple’s versatile file manager still lacks quite a few essential features like the option to let users restore data selectively. Even if it did, the lyrics window is way too small and can't be resized. And while Swinsian did import all my playlists, album art and star ratings, it didn't import my lyrics. I get the Column Browser back which the Music App took away, I no longer have to convert FLAC files to an iTunes readable format (a big time saver for me), and it's much zippier.iTunes (and the Music App) always had a 2 or 3 second lag when switching songs which never bothered me, but I think after using Swinsian that lag would bug me if I had to switch back to the Music App. I purchased Swinsian a week ago and I'm really liking it. I paid full price for this software and am disappointed that such a simple yet important feature is still nowhere to be seen. Among the many different applications I have running on a regular basis, this has been only one that has yet to give my eyes a rest even among a bunch of other third-party developers. More importantly, if the developers are reading this, please PLEASE implement a dark mode soon. A simple "lock" button next to the size slider would completely fix the issue. Aside from a couple issues I've had, Swinsian makes other Mac OS music players look like a joke.Ĭhanging the grid's icon size is an exception to the lag-free experience and is especially frustrating because it's extremely easy to mess everything up with an accidental zoom gesture and go through the laggy, frustrating process of getting it to the right size again and again. The overall lack of fluff while still having a fantastic interface is a godsend. The customizability has allowed me to arrange the interface exactly to my liking. I'm at over 250gb of lossy audio (about 30k files) myself and experience little to no lag when navigating the browsers and art grid. Definitely the best music player around for big libraries. In addition to these aberrations, piston and tilt are effects which shift the position of the focal point. The most common monochromatic aberrations are:Īlthough defocus is technically the lowest-order of the optical aberrations, it is usually not considered as a lens aberration, since it can be corrected by moving the lens (or the image plane) to bring the image plane to the optical focus of the lens. Chromatic aberration does not appear when monochromatic light is used. Because of dispersion, different wavelengths of light come to focus at different points. They appear even when using monochromatic light, hence the name.Ĭhromatic aberrations are caused by dispersion, the variation of a lens's refractive index with wavelength. Monochromatic aberrations are caused by the geometry of the lens or mirror and occur both when light is reflected and when it is refracted. These deviations from the idealized lens performance are called aberrations of the lens.Īberrations fall into two classes: monochromatic and chromatic. Real lenses do not focus light exactly to a single point, however, even when they are perfectly made. With an ideal lens, light from any given point on an object would pass through the lens and come together at a single point in the image plane (or, more generally, the image surface). Incident rays (red) away from the center of the mirror produce reflected rays (green) that miss the focal point, F. Overview Reflection from a spherical mirror. The articles on reflection, refraction and caustics discuss the general features of reflected and refracted rays. Makers of optical instruments need to correct optical systems to compensate for aberration.Īberration can be analyzed with the techniques of geometrical optics. Īn image-forming optical system with aberration will produce an image which is not sharp. Aberrations occur because the simple paraxial theory is not a completely accurate model of the effect of an optical system on light, rather than due to flaws in the optical elements. In an imaging system, it occurs when light from one point of an object does not converge into (or does not diverge from) a single point after transmission through the system. Aberration can be defined as a departure of the performance of an optical system from the predictions of paraxial optics. Aberrations cause the image formed by a lens to be blurred or distorted, with the nature of the distortion depending on the type of aberration. In optics, aberration is a property of optical systems, such as lenses, that causes light to be spread out over some region of space rather than focused to a point. This sanctified “Hallowed Ground” indeed represents land over which good men fought and died-and where, no doubt, many valiant troopers today remain at rest.In today’s digital age, content marketing has become an essential strategy for businesses to increase sales and drive growth. In sum, the two target parcels represent more than mere “bookends” to Fleetwood Hill. And as General Jeb Stuart wrote after the battle, “We buried them where they fell, friend and foe, alike.’ Confederate artillery fire plunging down from Fleetwood slammed into the withdrawing Federals, and many blue troopers were here blasted out of their saddles.Īfter the Battle of Brandy Station, the dead and wounded of both sides lay prostrate over the ground in heavy numbers on both “bookend” parcels. Gregg’s 3rd Cavalry Division retreated across the northern target parcel toward the Rappahannock. Mounted fighting continued heatedly over this target property until the Federals finally withdrew. Southern "bookend" is one of two target properties the American Battlefield Trust is working to preserve at Brandy Station.Īfter about two hours of savage fighting on Fleetwood Hill, Wyndham’s Brigade withdrew over the southern target parcel and it was here, or near here, that Percy Wyndham fell badly wounded, the victim of a Rebel bullet. Wade Hampton’s Brigade of almost two thousand Confederates pulled back from the Gee House Ridge and advanced in counter-attack across the northern target parcel headed south toward a “big hill now covered blue with Yankees,” according to a Georgia trooper. Responding to the bold Yankee attack, Gen. Percy Wyndham advanced resolutely across the southern target parcel toward the crest of Fleetwood Hill, just a few hundred yards to the north. View from the southern target property facing Fleetwood Hill.Īt about 10:30 on the morning of June 9, 1863, an entire Federal cavalry brigade of more than a thousand troopers commanded by Lt. The two Civil War Trust “target properties” situated on opposite ends of Fleetwood Hill-the most fought over crest in the American Civil War-represent not only the “bookends” of America’s “Famous Plateau,” but in a very real sense both coveted parcels incorporate dramatically significant battlefield acreage. Historian Clark “Bud” Hall discusses the significant land the Civil War Trust saved on Fleetwood Hill, the heart of the Brandy Station battlefield and the scene of the most intense mounted fighting of the Civil War.

He became the first non-Italian to keep goal for the Turin club. He made his debut for The Old Lady in the 1–1 draw with Reggina at the Stadio delle Alpi. In 1999, Van der Sar's stature as one of Europe's top goalkeepers drew attention from Manchester United, who sought a replacement for Peter Schmeichel however, Van der Sar moved to Italian club Juventus for a fee believed to be in the region of £5 million. 1 he won the Dutch Football Goalkeeper of the Year, he would then go on to retain the award for the next three consecutive years. He made a total of 226 appearances for Ajax, and scored a penalty for Ajax to complete an 8–1 victory over De Graafschap in the 1997–98 season. He was in goal for Ajax in the 1996 UEFA Champions League Final, but had to make do with a runner-up medal as they lost the penalty shoot-out against Juventus. He enjoyed a long and successful stint in their senior side, winning the 1991–92 UEFA Cup (albeit only as the reserve, making no appearances in the run) and the 1994–95 UEFA Champions League (by now the starting goalkeeper), as well as the 1995 Best European Goalkeeper award, besides domestic honours. Even though he joined late he went into the reserve team and bided his time before getting his first-team call-up by Louis van Gaal. At a relatively late age, he was brought to the attention of Louis van Gaal, and subsequently signed for Ajax. Van der Sar has won several individual awards, including Best European Goalkeeper in 19, and UEFA Club Goalkeeper of the Year in 2009.īorn in Voorhout, Van der Sar began his career at his hometown club, Foreholte, and then VV Noordwijk. He is also the oldest player to win the Premier League, having done so in 2011 at the age of 40 years and 205 days. During the 2008–09 season, he set a world record by not conceding a league goal for 1,311 minutes. He is also one of the most successful footballers ever, having won 26 major trophies in his career, mainly at Ajax and Manchester United. Van der Sar is considered by critics and fellow players as one of the best goalkeepers of all time. He played 130 times for the Netherlands national team, and was the nation's most-capped player until 2017, when he was overtaken by Wesley Sneijder. He retired as a professional in 2011, but briefly came out of retirement in 2016 to play a match for Dutch amateur team VV Noordwijk, for whom he had previously played as a youth. There he won a second Champions League title in 2008, making him one of just eight players at the time to have won the competition with more than one club. A goalkeeper, he left Ajax for Juventus in 1999, where he spent two years before moving to England, first to Fulham and then to Manchester United in 2005. While all of the Team Of The Year Icons in FIFA 23 are great card,s players will be hoping to pack Ronaldinho and Ruud Gullit above the rest.*Club domestic league appearances and goalsĮdwin van der Sar ( Dutch pronunciation: ( listen) born 29 October 1970) is a Dutch football executive and former professional player who was most recently the chief executive of Ajax, with whom he began his senior playing career in the early 1990s he is considered to be a member of the club's golden generation and was part of the Ajax team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995. FIFA players have recently discovered several Ryan Reynolds Easter Eggs in FIFA 23. The new inclusion of Team Of The Year Icons is a brilliant one that should continue for years to come with upgraded versions on a number of fan-favorite ICON cards. Further 2000's stars Claude Makelele, Edwin Van Der Sar, Ashley Cole, Robert Pires and Javier Zanetti also feature in the promotion. The pair possess high defense and physical stats whilst also having good pace, but fall short of some of the other defenders on offer in the game. There is also expected to be a final Team Of The Year Icon released in a Squad Building Challenge in FIFA 23 soon.Īt the other end of the pitch is another World Cup winner in Italian Alessandro Nesta along with Nemanja Vidic who are both rocks in defense. Italian World Cup winner Alessandro Pirlo falls into a similar category as Beckham and with a 93 overall rating will be a popular choice to sit in the middle of the park. Over the years the midfielder hasn't had the strongest FIFA cards, but this version has a 96 passing stat making him deadly when given time on the ball. Matching Gullit's 94 rating is former England captain David Beckham. With this approach, we start by focusing on who we wish to become.” The alternative is to build identity-based habits. “Many people begin the process of changing their habits by focusing on what they want to achieve. “There are three layers of behavior change: a change in your outcomes, a change in your processes, or a change in your identity.” This is the meaning of the phrase atomic habits-a regular practice or routine that is not only small and easy to do, but also the source of incredible power a component of the system of compound growth.” At first, these tiny routines seem insignificant, but soon they build on each other and fuel bigger wins that multiply to a degree that far outweighs the cost of their initial investment. Each one is a fundamental unit that contributes to your overall improvement. A handful of problems arise when you spend too much time thinking about your goals and not enough time designing your systems.” “Goals are good for setting a direction, but systems are best for making progress. Systems are about the processes that lead to those results.” “Goals are about the results you want to achieve. But you know that it’s the work you did long ago-when it seemed that you weren’t making any progress-that makes the jump today possible.”įORGET ABOUT GOALS, FOCUS ON SYSTEMS INSTEAD The outside world only sees the most dramatic event rather than all that preceded it. “When you finally break through the Plateau of Latent Potential, people will call it an overnight success. “But in order to make a meaningful difference, habits need to persist long enough to break through this plateau-what I call the Plateau of Latent Potential.” I think these are useful ways of reframing that results in a consistently reliable process of achieving good habits, and breaking bad habits. the power in designing your environment rather than relying on motivation to get you through.the importance of building identity-based habits where “instead of thinking about the result that you want, or the outcome that you’re trying to achieve, start with the type of person that you wish to become.”.the need to focus on building systems and developing processes rather than trying to achieve goals or outcomes. My biggest takeaways from both the podcast episode and the book were: I’ve been hearing about it but I never made the effort of reading it until I listened to Brene Brown’s podcast episode with the author, James Clear. Since the topic of goals is fresh on my mind, let me share the quotes I took note of when I read Atomic Habits earlier this year. If you compare it to the first one, there is so much improvement, and you will get a lot better feel while playing the newer version. The company that’s behind this software recently released its second and upgraded version of BIAS amps. AmpLion Free offers five-channel tube amp, two cabinets, metronome, audio player, and advance recorder. If you ever tried recording something with a mic and an amplifier, you know how important it can be.įinally, it gives an impressive amount of customization, and you can find several pedals and cabinets available even in the free version. You can also use intelligent metronome, which is something that is perfect for practicing.ĪmpLion also allows you to adjust the microphone position while using the simulation, where you can choose the location of the microphone and the distance from the speaker. What is interesting about AmpLion is that it gives you an option to use Track Player and play along with your favorite songs and artists. As you can probably guess already, there are several options that are not available in the free version, but you can still use it for practicing, recording, composing, and even playing live! The program is developed by Audified, and if you like it, you can get a pro version as well. AmpLion FreeĪmpLion works as a standalone program and plug-in. So, if you really want to sound like Jimi Hendrix, you can buy a custom software that will allow you to achieve it in no time. Naturally, you can get a paid version as well that gives you an opportunity to use “real” brands like Orange, Fender, Mesa, and there are even simulations of player’s rigs available. The UI is incredible and it will show you a virtual amp with all the potentiometers and buttons that you can mess around with until you get a tone that you love. You won’t need a degree in engineering to use it, and you can experiment with sounds to find what you love the most. One of the best qualities of AmpliTube is that the program is perfect for beginners. It also has a built-in tuner that will allow you to always keep your guitar in key. This plug-in will allow you to use AmpliTube 5, as well as 41 models that include ten stomps or pedals, six different amplifiers, seven cabinets, three microphones, and six rack effects and room effects. The design of the program is similar to others where you can customize your experience as you would with a real amplifier.Īs you can probably guess, this software comes in several versions as well, but you can get a free plug-in as well. Thanks to its digital polyphonic tuner, guitarists can quickly tune up guitars and basses without wasting time.Over the years, AmpliTube gained incredible popularity and not without reason. 4) MTunerįeaturing a combination of a classic monophonic tuner as well as a high resolution polyphonic tuner, MTuner is a very powerful guitar tuner plugin.įor starters, it features a powerful frequency analyzer that was intricately designed mostly for tuning guitars, basses and other string instruments. A small arrow on the screen depicts the harmonic whose pitch the tuner is tracking. Not to mention, it comes with a nice spectrum analyzer for a more visual feedback of the notes. N-Track will then automatically recognize the notes that you’re playing and tell you whether you need to increase (red bar) or lower (green bar) your guitar string’s pitch for perfect pitch correction. Simply turn on n-Track next to your instrument (whether it is guitar, bass or any other string instrument) and play each string. Tune your guitar, bass or other instrument with n-Track Tuner, a nifty tool for iOS and Android devices to tune your guitar. If there were a 5$ minimum, we could have double the orders very easily, and would need about double the drivers. Unless the minimum was like 5$ five bucks isn't much for a funny prank, and certainly isn't much for bait for a robbery or something - keeping the difference between minimum delivery amount and maximum cash-on-hand is a very easy way to reduce risk for drivers, and reducing the cash-on-hand amount to coincide with a reduced minimum delivery would negatively affect a lot of people getting correct change.Ī second idea is that it keeps the required amount of drivers lower. If it's a card, there's no reason to think it's a prank or bait of some sort. If it's cash, and it sounds fishy, find a way to verify. You mean to tell me that this mega corporation that sells pizzas for $6 and pays customers $3 to come in to get their pizzas can't find any possible way to pay their employees properly, and then convince them that its the customer's fault when they don't make ends meet? Again, this is just wrong and bordering unethical business practice.Building on what was said, it can also cut down on prank orders. When you got your job, did your boss say "now if they don't tip, be slow with their order, make their food sloppy so they don't order again" or something like "we don't treat people who don't tip with any respect" in which case I understand why you believe this. This ends up treating people who have enough money to order, with 5 kids at home, but no car or no easy way to get the pizza, and then they have to pay a tip on top of the delivery fee or else they can't order or that mom is an asshole? How self centered drivers are!!! I believe they had delivery fees at some places before this but it was at literally every delivery place after Katrina.Īmerican jobs that pay with tips doesn't mean that people are REQUIRED to tip. As far as delivery fees, the way it happened where I was, it was all due to hurricane Katrina. I remember my first hiring manager told me "every penny of every tip you receive is extra and is in no way expected". When you got your job, its the hiring manager's responsibility to explain this. I did not outright call you an elitist but did mention it is an elitist mentality. The mentality of being like "tips are expected and if you don't tip don't order" is elitist. They put their lives at risk everyday driving in traffic to deliver you a hot fresh pizza, I don’t think it’s right to use corporate policies and pay to excuse a lack of a tip. You may not agree with companies giving tipped employees cheaper wages, but not tipping for that reason doesn’t punish anybody but the person working the job. I don’t have the ability to change it, and neither do you (unless your going into politics). You don’t know me, and if you’re going to “call me out” maybe you should ask questions about my stance before assuming.Īmerican restaurants and service jobs revolve around tips. You ASSUMED I’m taking the stance of a corporate shill. YOU commented to me calling me elitist for stating a fact. So the delivery fee going up is to compensate for that.Īs for the personal attacks. Costs of everything has gone up since, yet the price point hasn’t changed. The fee originally was intended to lower the cost of specials so they could advertise ridiculously cheap pizzas. Without a delivery fee, 555 wasn’t possible, 5.99 also wouldn’t be possible. The delivery fee was originally introduced to offer low cost specials to consumers. Halfway through reading and you’re already incorrect. If I kept myself at Domino's all these years I never would have amounted to anything. You don't like that someone on the internet has an opinion different from your own, or a more educated opinion than yours, take it as an opportunity to learn. You are the one who has been nothing but vulgar and insulting of others intelligence right from the start. Almost 20 years later the delivery fee is 2x as much and gas is still $3.50, but the drivers only get a fraction of that fee. Gas went from $1.50 to $3.50 in less than a month, delivery fee was $2. I worked as a delivery driver before and after hurricane Katrina, so I know where delivery fees originated from and I know they were covering delivery expenses before charging a delivery fee. So basically when you get hired, you agree to taking deliveries and all tips are optional, and not in any way mandatory. You could at the very least advocate on forums that 1) tipping is not mandatory no even in large orders and 2) it is wrong for Domino's to charge $6 a pizza because it just gets the employees mad at the customers because they are only paying $6. But you have no qualms with Domino's doing what they do by charging a delivery fee to boost their profits. No, you are not in charge of what they charge. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to post my opinion. |
